Tuan, Tuân Pham Ngoc (1929–2022) Untitled, circa 1970–1973 Ink and pencil on cardboard, bearing the artist’s signature stamp on the reverse 65 x 50 cm Provenance: > The artist’s studio, Paris Tuan was born in Vietnam in 1929. After studying at the Hanoi School of Fine Arts in 1945–1946, Tuan moved to France in 1949 and enrolled at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. From 1956 onwards, he enjoyed a distinguished career as an art director for major Parisian advertising agencies (Publicis, Dupuy, Havas) and magazines (Marie-Claire, Moto Revue). In the 1960s and 1970s, he designed logos that have since become legendary, such as those for the City of Hanoi and the French publisher Christian Bourgois. Tuan was married to the painter Maryse Eloy. Tuan was born in 1929 in Vietnam. After studying at the Hanoi School of Fine Arts from 1945 to 1946, he moved to France in 1949 and studied at the Paris School of Fine Arts (École des Arts Décoratifs). From 1956 onwards, he enjoyed a distinguished career as an art director for major advertising agencies in Paris (Publicis, Dupuy, Havas) and magazines (Marie-Claire, Moto Revue). During the 1960s and 1970s, he created iconic logos, such as those for the City of Hanoi and the French publishing house Christian Bourgois. Tuan was married to the artist Maryse Eloy.
