Description
Ricardo Fernandez (1947–2006) Diptych 1994 Collage of cut-out cardboard pieces, signed and dated in the bottom right-hand corner 45 x 48.5 cm Condition report: Framed (56.5 x 60.5 cm) A couple of Argentine artists who settled in France in 1985, Alicia Hernandez and Ricardo Fernandez devoted their lives to exploring concrete and geometric art. Embracing Theo Van Doesburg’s motto: “concrete painting, not abstract, because nothing is more concrete, more real than a line, a colour, a surface”, they continue the work of De Stijl (Piet Mondrian, Gerrit Rietveld...) and are contributing to the abstract geometric revolution originating in South America (alongside Le Parc, Vardanega, Jesús-Rafael Soto, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Martha Boto…).
