Description
Lord Henry BROUGHAM (1778–1868), politician, Lord High Chancellor of Great Britain. Autograph letter, [Kingston Hill (Surrey), 29 September 1841], to J Scoble Esq. in London; 2¼ pages, in-8, addressed; in English. He asks whether the people at Hornsands’ have sent him the proofs of the continuation of what was sent regarding the petition against the law: ‘I’ll thank you to see that the people at Hornsands’ send me the proofs of the continuation of what was sent on the Anti-law Petition’. The first part has been published, but he wishes to see the rest, fearing errors that could have serious consequences, ‘that the mistakes made in stating what the Law is should be set right’; the same applies to the ‘Mirror of Doubt’… Enclosed are two engraved portraits and a fragment of a letter bearing Brougham’s name.
