Description
John Maynard KEYNES (1883–1946), British economist. L.A.S., London, 22 December 1913, to Dr Mortimer Epstein; 1 page, in-8, on Royal Economic Society letterhead; in English. He sends him, on behalf of the *Economic Journal*, a copy of Werner Sombart’s (1863–1941) book *Der Bourgeois*, which he considers to be an important work: ‘It looks to be an important work’. He has just read, with great interest, Sombart’s book on the Jews (The Jews and Modern Capitalism), in Epstein’s translation, for which he offers his congratulations: “I have just finished reading with great interest his work on the Jews in your translation. May I congratulate you on the admirable way in which the translation has been coming out?”… Enclosed is a typewritten copy of a letter from Keynes to Dr A. Spiethoff, Firle, 25 August 1933 (1 p., in-4, in English), concerning the barbarity of the Nazi regime in Germany.
