Victor de Riquetti, Marquis de MIRABEAU (1715–1789). Autograph letter, from du Bignon, 26 November 1771, to the consuls of the community of Beaumont; 1 page, quarto. He is sending ‘my eldest son and natural heir to my estates in Provence, to attend to my affairs there and, for the time being, to take my place’. He will have to settle the dispute concerning the felling of timber […] ‘My intention, gentlemen, is not for him to begin with a lawsuit, but rather that he should receive his first introduction to my affairs in a spirit of peace’... Enclosed is a letter, Paris, 15 June 1763, to M. de La Durane at Beaumont near Mirabeau (1 p. ¼ in-4, addressed, seal broken), concerning the legal proceedings against the land clearers.
