Description
Jacques NECKER (1732–1804). Letter from the author, 14 September 1801; one and a half pages, quarto. He shares in his correspondent’s grief. ‘Your filial love is too well known for anyone to doubt your sorrow.’ His daughter (Madame de Staël) also shares in his sorrow. He invites him to come and find some distraction at Coppet. Enclosed is a letter from Albertine NECKER DE SAUSSURE (1766–1846, author of *L’Éducation progressive*) to Madame de Saussure Fabri (2½ pages, in-8, addressed), announcing that her daughter Albertine has just given birth to a strapping boy.
