Description
Jean-Baptiste SAY (1767–1832). Letter from the author, Paris, 13 October 1819, to Laurent-François Feuillet, librarian of the Institut; 1 page, folio. He presents the Institute with a copy of the fourth edition of his *Économie politique*: ‘I owe this to the welcome I receive at the Library of this respectable body whenever I need to consult it, and perhaps the distinguished scholars it hosts will not consider it unworthy of them to be presented with the book in which it has been demonstrated, for the first time, that the sciences were productive and necessary to the economy of nations’.”
