Anne-Robert-Jacques TURGOT (1727–1781). L.A., Paris, 7 October 1775, to Voltaire; one and a half pages, quarto. He has received your letter ‘in which you express your concerns regarding the implementation of the arrangement of which Mr Trudaine informed you. I am very sorry that it could not be finalised on 1 October [...] but the matter was not really feasible; moreover, it has been postponed by only a few days, and you may reassure those local residents whom the clerks’ increased severity may have alarmed’. He met Madame de Saint-Julien, who brought him her letter ‘and the fine medal she has won’ [a gold medal bearing the effigy of Turgot, which she had won in September at a shooting competition].
