Thorstein VEBLEN (1857–1929), American economist and sociologist. L.A.S., Washington, February 1925, to Edward Filene; 1 page, small quarto, on Isador Lubin’s [future head of the Bureau of Statistics] letterhead, receipt stamp dated 24 February; in English. He thanks him for his book *The Way Out*, which is awaiting him in New York. He has already read another copy and agrees with him: ‘I find myself in agreement with you, to a greater extent than you might perhaps expect’, and he compliments him on his logic and clarity: ‘you are fairly to be complimented on the logic and lucidity with which you have put the case’.
