[Frédéric BAZILLE (1841–1870)]. Marc BAZILLE (1845–1923), Frédéric’s brother. Letter from the author, Montpellier, 24 October 1923, [to Arsène Alexandre?]; 5 pages, in-8. On the works of his brother Frédéric Bazille. He thanks his friend for his intervention with Léonce Bénédite regarding the transfer of Bazille’s painting *La Terrasse* from the Musée du Luxembourg to the Grand Palais. He discusses the fate of his brother’s correspondence, in which he finds mention of a painting from 1868, ‘the portrait of his great friend Edmond Maître, who, like himself, had long been passionate about music’; he quotes the description given in a letter from the Maître family, who had recently sold him the painting depicting “a Black woman presenting bouquets of various flowers on a fan”.
