Édouard COLONNE (1838–1910). 4 letters from the conductor to Jacques Thibaud (one addressed to his wife Marguerite), July–September 1907 and undated; 10 pages in-8, 3 on Concerts Colonne letterhead. Letters from the conductor to the young violinist who made his debut under his baton. 16 July 1907: ‘I fully understand your reasons, both yours and Casals’, and ‘I am entirely of the same opinion’, but he would like to discuss the matter in person. – 11 September 1907: he is ‘still keen to perform Beethoven’s trio. I shall go to Lyon and try to do what you’ve asked of me. My only fear is having to grapple with the Moor issue!!!... We’re moving house. It’s awful!!!… The Colonne Trio sends its regards to the Jacquot Trio”… – Friday, Grasse: he hopes to return to Paris for his concerts: “What a joy it is for me to accompany you.
