Athens, 18 May 1900, thanking him ‘for your handshake regarding *L’Appel au Soldat*’; he explains that ‘the Moselle Valley is not a mere appetiser; it is the heart of the three books, the soil in which my young people are rooted, the soil from which they are uprooted’… – 30 November 1907: he mentions the publication of *Le Rouet d’ivoire* by his compatriot Émile Moselly. To a friend.
