Louis-Benoît PICARD (1769–1828). Personal letter and autograph letter, 1816–1824; 1 folio-sized page and 1 octavo-sized page.
Théâtre de l’Odéon. Decree signed as ‘Director and Member’ of the Odéon, 6 January 1816. A curious decree, in two articles, concerning ‘Ladies, both members and boarders’, enjoining them to appear ‘at the end of the opening Prologue for as long as it remains in the repertoire, on pain of a special fine’ which shall be ‘strictly collected by the treasurer’, and this ‘in order to secure, out of deference to the author of the Prologue and to himself, what ought to be regarded as a duty’.
11 May 1824, Letter from the author to Loignon, at the Théâtre de l’Odéon, concerning the manuscript of *L’Écolier d’Oxford*, which had been misplaced after being read to the Committee.
