Description
Rose BERTIN (1747–1813), dressmaker and close friend of Marie-Antoinette. Handwritten invoice, 1785–1787; 3 folio pages (a few slight tears). ‘Supplied to Madame the Countess of Castellanne Chabot by Bertin, the Queen’s dressmaker’. This refers to Adélaïde Louise Guyonne de Rohan-Chabot (1761–1805), wife of Count Boniface de Castellane. The invoice includes headscarves, numerous hats, cloaks and coats, poufs, etc., totalling 1,171 livres, paid in three instalments (January 1786, April 1786 and February 1787), with signed receipts for Mlle Bertin.
