He thanks Guiraud for choosing his newspaper *Le Rénovateur* and ‘for having so aptly expressed the thoughts that haunted me upon hearing of the untimely death of that young Duke of Reichstadt, and which I was about to attempt to convey in base prose, when your verses came and put my pen to rest. […] You have been generous, and our cause must be so too, for it is just. I was pleased to see all the royalist newspapers view this event from the same perspective and share your sentiments regarding the deplorable end of this young prince.
