[LOUIS XIV]. Manuscript, *Nouveaus Portraitz et Caracteres de la Famille Royalle*…, [late 17th century]; one small quarto volume of 244 pages, contemporary parchment binding, red edges. The full title is: New Portraits and Characterisations of the Royal Family, Ministers of State, and the principal figures of the Court of France who have been or are currently in office, with an exact calculation of the revenues of this Crown. Supplemented with Portraits and Character Sketches of certain officers of the Empire. And a ballad concerning several figures of the time. The manuscript corresponds to the book published clandestinely in 1706 under this title, bearing the fictitious address ‘at Ville-Franche, at Paul Pinceau’s’; forgeries and copies circulated. The pagination of the manuscript ends after p. 61.
