Description

POPES. Barnaba Chiaramonti, Pius VII (1742–1823). Autograph letter. ‘B Carde Chiaramonti’, Imola, 24 August 1796, to his dear niece Elena Chiaramonti; 1 page, folio; in Italian. He thanks her for sending an image of the Virgin (‘l’immagine della Beata Vergine’), although he has received larger ones from Ancona, and asks her to remember him daily in her prayers during the litanies to the Virgin. He asks his niece to convey his regards to the Empress… Enclosed is a handwritten letter from G. Soprani, Turin, 8 September 1839, donating this letter and explaining that it is addressed to Elena Chiaramonti, a Benedictine nun. Formerly in the collection of Maurizio Seyssel of Aix.
