COLLECTION. A collection of approximately 50 manuscript pieces and 4 printed works, 17th century; one in-4 volume, bound in period speckled brown calfskin (binding worn, spine damaged). Miscellaneous pieces: epistles (to Despréaux, from the Duke of Nevers to the Duke of Grammont, from Abbé Senlec to Mr Bontemps), epigrams, stanzas, madrigals, rondeaux, an elegy on the death of the Marquis d’Estampes at the ‘Battle of Hoctset’, poems by Mme Deshoulières, Madeleine de Scudéry and the Duke of Nevers; a letter from Pavillon on the death of his dog; recipes (on cooking rice)… Etc. Three documents concern ‘the titles presented to the Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés regarding the House of La Tour d’Auvergne’.
