SAVOY. VICTOR-AMEDEO II (1666–1732), Duke of Savoy. P.S., Racconis, 4 April 1689; folio-sized notebook of 18 pages bound with a blue ribbon. General accounts of the Wars of Savoy for the year 1689, with details of the ‘presidia, garrisons, and their maintenance’ at Montmélian, Chambéry and Allinges; the Montferrat Regiment, the Dragoon Regiment, the cavalry officers, the officers responsible for pay and quartering, the artillery, etc. At the top, the ‘Summary of the present War Accounts’ is signed by the Duke ‘VAmedeo’, with five countersignatures from councillors, including Bellegarde, Granery and Mornas, and bears the great seal with the coat of arms beneath the paper. Attached is a letter, dated 12 August 1690 from the camp at Villefranche, addressed to State Councillor Morand in Chambéry; countersigned by Buonfiglio; 1 folio page, address bearing a seal under the paper.
