Charles-Maurice, Prince of TALLEYRAND (1754–1838). Autograph letter, Paris, 6 March [1818], to a lawyer; 2 pages, quarto. Concerning the separation of the Duke and Duchess of Dino [Dorothée, Duchess of Courland, had married Talleyrand’s nephew, Edmond de Périgord, in 1808; he was created Duke of Dino in 1817; the separation of property between the two spouses was ordered by a judgement following adversarial proceedings on 24 March 1818.] Wishing to resolve amicably ‘the financial difficulties that have arisen between two members of my family, I thought it would be useful to bring them together at my home with their respective advisers.
