Description
Raymond CAUCHETIER (1920–2021) Out of Breath, Jean-Luc Godard. The window display of the Publicis Drugstore on the Champs-Élysées, Paris, 1959.  Period silver print, printed in late 1959, signed in pencil and numbered “100 11” (negative number), with copyright and title stamps on the reverse. Dimensions: 23 x 18 cm The first Drugstore on the Champs-Élysées was situated at 133 Avenue des Champs-Élysées, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, and opened on 16 October 1958 on the site of the former Hôtel Astoria. The building was destroyed by fire in 1972 and subsequently rebuilt between 1973 and 1975. It was Europe’s first true drugstore.
