Aristide Maillol (1861-1944), Leda , bronze sculpture with brown-black patina, monogrammed, founder's stamp (unidentified), 29x14x13 cm Attestation by M. Olivier Lorquin, Paris, 14 April 2026 Provenance: Galerie Vollard, Paris, Collection André Gide, acquired directly from the gallery in March 1905 for Fr. 350 (André Gide's acquisition list), Collection Catherine Gide, then remained in the family to this day. Note: In 1938, André Gide wrote in his diary about a small statuette by Maillol (Leda) that adorned his desk (see photo). This sculpture is an over-moulding authorised by the artist and published by Ambroise Vollard.
