SYRIA – SELEUCID KINGDOM – ANTIOCHUS VIII GRYPUS (121–96). Head of Antiochus VIII wearing a diadem, facing right, surrounded by the stemma. Reverse: Zeus Uranios, naked to the waist, standing on the left, his head surmounted by a crescent, half-naked, with a chlamys draped over his shoulder, holding an eight-pointed star in his right hand and a long sceptre in his left. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ// ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ// ΕΠΙΦΑΝΟΥΣ// (ΙΕΑ). Tetradrachm, Silver, ø29 mm (16.6g). TTB+. The King is depicted here with his characteristic nose.
