MARCUS AURELIUS (139–180). Sesterce. Laureate head of Marcus Aurelius facing right. M ANTONINVS /AVG TRP XXVII. R./ Mercury standing on the left on a pedestal, within a temple with four columns and a curved pediment, holding a purse in his right hand and a caduceus in his left; The four columns are formed by Terms; in the tympanum, one can see a tortoise, a cockerel, a ram, a caduceus, a winged helmet and a purse. IMP VI - COS III/ S|C// RELIG AVG beneath the temple. Copper or bronze, Ø33 mm – (24.8g). TTB+. Very fine portrait and rare reverse.
