A chiselled and gilded bronze clock depicting Orpheus playing the flute whilst leaning against a central pillar covered in ivy branches, which frame the circular white-enamelled dial featuring black Arabic and Roman numerals, signed ‘Cronier Aîné, rue Saint-Honoré N. 165, Paris, and a dog sitting on a tree stump to the left. The octagonal base features a bas-relief decorated with sheep and leafy branches and rests on four feet. Early 19th century. Minor losses and chips. (Ref 48)
