Description
An exceptional carved ivory angel, depicted with her head slightly tilted, wavy hair framing her ears, a chubby face, almond-shaped eyes, a small nose and a slightly parted mouth. The body is naked and plump; the right arm is bent with the hand in front of the face, whilst the left arm is outstretched, pointing in a direction with an outstretched finger. The legs are in a walking position. Two wings are positioned on the back, along with a brass fastening.
Louis XIV period, circa 1680–1700.

Gross weight 550 g.
Drying cracks, yellowing, minor imperfections and restoration; the wings may be later additions.
