6 large quarto volumes, loose-leaf in a cream folder with red lettering, the folder and publisher’s slipcase illustrated with a composition by Dalí in red, fuchsia or blue, highlighted in gold.
The set is illustrated with 100 colour watercolour plates by Dalí, wood-engraved by Raymond Jacquet and Jean Taricco (Inferno 34, Purgatory 33, Paradise 33). The text was printed by Daragnès. The creation of this masterful work required the production of 3,500 woodblocks. Only plate 1 of Hell is signed in the wood. Total print run of 4,765 copies, all on pure Rives rag paper. This is copy number 1408. Minor wear to some of the slipcases. A few very slight foxing spots, particularly on the first and last blank pages of certain volumes, which do not affect the watercolours.
