ANDRÉ VILLEBOEUF (1893–1956) 14 aquatints (out of the 16 included in the final edition) intended for Léon-Paul Fargue’s *Contes fantastiques*, Paris, Daragnès, 1944. Several aquatints are annotated in the lower margin in pencil with the initial ‘V’, the words ‘Bon à tirer’, comments or Villeboeuf’s signature. Some aquatints are in multiple states. A total of 25 pieces. A few minor imperfections at the margins; the paper is slightly yellowed. ‘The artist wrote extensively on Goya, and the latter’s influence is evident both in the technique (aquatints with subtle nuances achieved through multiple etching passes) and in the subjects addressed (surreal creatures, occultism).’
