Description
[2 Autograph Letters from Maurice Sailland, known as Curnonsky, 1872–1956]
- Autograph letter signed by Sailland, known as Curnonsky, to Jean Bourgoin, 2 pp., on the letterhead of the Académie des Gastronomes – The Founding President, dated from Mélanie’s house, Riec-sur-Bélon, 10 October 1953. Curnonsky discusses his health problems, particularly his strict diet (‘the old, infirm prince, now in his eighties and in poor health, is condemned to relative moderation… no more than one sauce per meal, no more Burgundy…’) etc. Tears and creases throughout.
- Autograph letter signed ‘De tout Cur’, dated 8 November 1953, to Jean Bourgoin, one and a half pages long, with a handwritten, stamped envelope. Curnonsky is expecting the addressee, presumably for a dinner a few days later. He is anxious about the state of his partner’s health, as she has not yet returned home.
