Description
VIVALDI (Giovanni Ludovico). *Opus regale*. Lyon, Étienne Gueynard, 1512. In-8, hardback in vellum, plain spine, speckled edges (19th-century binding). A rare Lyon edition of this collection of short treatises on religion. The volume, printed in Gothic type, is illustrated with 8 large woodcuts, 6 of which are full-page, and is interspersed with attractive historiated initials. The title, in red and black, is adorned with an initial and a border formed of eight small woodcuts. The author was a professor of theology and an adviser to the Marquis de Saluces. Minor, insignificant losses to the title page; small tears on a few leaves; minimal foxing. Folios 148–149 have been bound by mistake between folios 219–220.
