Description
CATULLUS, TIBULLUS and PROPERCIUS. Opera. Birmingham, John Baskerville, 1772. In-12, red morocco, triple gilt rule, plain decorated spine, interior lace, gilt edges (Contemporary binding). A superb printing by Baskerville, who published two editions of this work in the same year, one in quarto and the other in 12mo. A fine copy, elegantly bound in the period. It was presented by Edmond de Goncourt to Alphonse Daudet, with a signed autograph ex-dono inscription and Daudet’s ex-libris stamp. Some rubbing, corners slightly worn, a few foxing spots. Gaskell, no. 45.
