Second edition of this collection devoted to popular beliefs and superstitions. The subjects covered are very diverse: the devil, witches, shooting stars, Walpurgis Night, rabid dogs, goblins, three-legged rabbits, showers of fire, etc. A second volume was published in 1793. The book is illustrated with 28 wood-engraved vignettes, including one on the title page. The pages are browned, with foxing; the cardboard cover is scuffed and has some losses.
