Description
MEUNG (Jean de). *Le Dodechedron de fortune*. A book no less entertaining and enjoyable than it is subtle and ingenious amongst all games and pastimes of chance. Paris, Gilles Robinot, 1615. In-8, fawn calfskin, triple blind-stamped band and small gilt fleurons at the corners, decorated spine, inner lace, gilt edges (Petit, successor to Simier). A very rare edition, and the last early one, of this divinatory game book attributed to the author of the sequel to the *Roman de la Rose*. Online catalogues list only three copies in public collections (two in Paris and one in Ghent). A fine copy, complete with the folded plate printed in red and black. From the Ferdinand Gauthier library, with bookplate. Spine slightly faded, edges rubbed. Tchemerzine, IV, 721 f – Brunet, III, 1680 – USTC 6014329.
