Description
BRONGNIART (Alexandre). A Treatise on the Ceramic Arts or Pottery, Considered in Terms of Their History, Practice and Theory. Paris, Béchet the Younger, 1854. – Atlas. Paris, Béchet the Younger, Mathias, 1844. 2 in-8 volumes of text, in green half-basane, smooth filleted spine, speckled edges; and an oblong in-4 atlas, in fawn half-basane, smooth filleted spine, with the Pelouz bookplate at the tail (contemporary bindings). Second edition, revised, corrected and expanded with notes and additions by Alphonse Salvétat. The atlas from the first edition has been included; it corresponds to the second edition and contains 9 tables (including 3 fold-out inserts) and 60 lithographed plates in black. Text: foxing and faint discolouration, spine slightly faded, minor rubbing and retouching on the headbands, two worn corners. Atlas: headbands missing, joints split, foxing.
