MENIPPIC SATIRE on the virtue of the Catholicon of Spain; and on the proceedings of the Estates of Paris. Regensburg, published by Mathias Kerner, 1664. In-16, blue morocco, double gilt fillet binding, mosaic decoration in red and ochre morocco embellished with gilt dots, gilt fleurons at the corners, plain spine with decoration, gilt inner lace, gilt edges (Binding from the first half of the 19th century). Second edition published under this title, without the 8 lines of errata on the reverse of the fourth leaf. According to Willems, this edition is more sought-after than the first, as it contains the two illustrations of the Spanish charlatan and the man from Lorraine, which are not included in the first edition, in addition to the fold-out plate depicting the League’s procession. An elegantly bound copy. Trimmed caps, minor worm damage to the bands, scuffing, blunt corners, faint water-stain on the last 60 leaves, a few pinholes. Brunet, V, 145 –
