Description
MOLIÈRE. The Works, revised, corrected and expanded to include *Le Médecin vangé* [sic], and the most curious epitaphs concerning his death. Lyon, Jacques Lions, 1692. 8 volumes in-12, fawn sheepskin, decorated spine, roulette on the edges, marbled edges (contemporary binding). An important collective edition from Lyon, based on the Paris edition of 1682, probably compiled by the actor Marcel, who had known Molière. Certain passages have been restored, notably in *Les Fourberies de Scapin*.
The illustrations consist of 31 intaglio-engraved plates after P. Brissart, depicting Molière in various roles.
From the libraries of the Church of San Barnaba in Modena and G. Fornaciari, with ex-libris.
The frontispiece portrait is missing. Restored bindings; foxing; a few stained leaves.
Guibert, I, 661 – Lacroix, no. 283 – Riffaud, no. 9226.
