First edition of this chronicle of life behind the scenes at the Paris Opera during the Second Empire, written by the man who served as its director. A fine copy bound by Jean Canape, son and successor to Georges. From the library of Dr Maurice Vimont, with bookplate. Slight wear to the upper cap. JANIN (Jules). *L’Élysée-Bourbon*. Paris, Urbain Canel and Adolphe Guyot, 1832. In-8, midnight blue half-maroquin with corner pieces (Allô). Rare first edition, featuring a frontispiece on laid paper engraved by J. M. Fontaine. Same provenance, but without an ex-libris.
