DU CHOUL (Guillaume). Los Discursos de la religion, castramentaçion, assiento del campo, baños y exerçiçios de los antiguos Romanos y Griegos. En Leon de Francia [Lyon], Guillaume Rouillé, 1579. 2 parts in one volume in-4, granite-coloured basane, spine decorated, mottled edges (17th century binding). First Spanish edition, translated by Baltasar Pérez del Castillo, of these two treatises by Guillaume du Choul, a famous amateur from Lyon whose collections of antiquities prefigured the curiosity cabinets of the 17th century.
It is illustrated with numerous woodcuts, including a large folded plate showing the layout of a Roman camp.
From the library of Antoine-Marie Chenavard (1787-1883), architect from Lyon, author of a famous Voyage pittoresque en Grèce et dans le Levant, with stamp at the foot of the title.
