EUTROPE and Paul DIACRE. De Inclytis totius Italicæ provinciæ ac Romanorum gestis libri xviii. Paris, Geoffroy de Marnef, Gilles de Gourmont and Galliot Du Pré, 1512. In-folio, half marbled basane with corners, spine decorated (Late 19th century binding). Edition by Nicolas Maillard, a writer from Rouen, printed by Gilles de Gourmont on behalf of Galliot du Pré and Geoffroy de Marnef. It is typographed in Roman type, embellished with beautiful letters with a sifted background; the title and its frame are printed in red and black and accompanied by the bookseller's mark. The illustration includes a suite of 90 vignettes (40 x 55 mm), 16 of which are repeated, depicting half-body figures (knight, emperor, etc.) beneath scrolls of foliage, and 2 larger vignettes (60 x 47 mm) showing the emperor holding the globe and a king leaning on the shield of Malta.
