AGRIPPA (Corneille). A pleasant & curious treatise on the nobility & excellence of the female sex above that of the male. La Haye, Pierre Perier, 1686. Small in-12, marbled basane, triple gilt fillet, ornate smooth spine, twisted edges, combed edges (19th century binding). Rare edition of a famous opuscule by Corneille Agrippa (1486-1535) in French translation. Written in 1509 in Dole, where the author taught Christian Kabbalah, the Declamatio de nobilitate et præcellentia fœmini sexus was first published in Antwerp in 1529.
