[BOSSE (Abraham)]. FARINATI (Paolo). Diverses figures à l'eau forte de petits Amours, Anges vollants, et Enfans, propre a mettre sur frontons portes et autres lieux. Ensemble plus[ieu]rs sortes de masques de l'invention de Paul Farinaste Italien. Paris, C.-A. Jombert, 1736. In-4 oblong, pink boards, title on the first cover (19th century binding). Second edition of this suite of 30 plates of putti and grotesque masks etched by Abraham Bosse (1602-1676) after the Veronese painter and decorator Paolo Faritani (1524-1606).
The suite was first published under the name of Abraham Bosse in 1644. Charles-Antoine Jombert later incorporated it into the Nouvelle méthode pour apprendre à dessiner sans maître, which he published in 1740.
Ex-libris of the goldsmith Pierre Germain (1703-1783) in modern facsimile on the first flyleaf.
Most of the plates are mounted in frame with filleted margins, except pl. 9-10, without margins (mention of privilege and numbering trimmed); false margins often browned or pitted, small repair and stains on pl. 28, foxing on pl. 30. Covers worn.
