Description
HORACE. [Opera]. Accedunt nunc Danielis Heinsii De satyra horatiana libri duo. Leiden, Elzevier, 1629. 3 parts in one volume in-16, lemon morocco, triple gilt fillet and one cold fillet with small fleurons at the corners, ornamented spine, inner lace, burgundy calf lining and endpapers decorated with a double gilt fillet border with a large medallion in the centre of the flyleaves, gilt edges (19th century binding). Second Elzevirian edition of the works of Horace published by Daniel Heinsius with his essay De satyra horatiana and his philological commentaries. "This edition of Horace is attractive, and well-preserved copies sell for quite a lot" (Willems).
The volume is decorated with a general title-frontispiece engraved in intaglio.
