Description
JOACHIM DE FLORE and ANSELMO DE MARSICO. Vaticinia, sive prophetiæ. Vaticinii, overo Profetie. Venice, G. B. Bertoni, 1600. Small in-4, soft vellum (contemporary binding). Second edition of this rare collection of prophecies published by Pasqualino Regiselmo. Printed in Latin and Italian, it contains thirty prophecies attributed to the famous Joachim of Flora and the 13th-century mystic bishop Anselm of Marsico.
The illustration, engraved in intaglio by Girolamo Porro, consists of a title-frontispiece, three full-page figures - including an illustration of a curious Turkish prophecy predicting the fall of the Ottoman Empire - and thirty emblematic figures in the text.
