[MERIAN (Matthäus) and Martin ZEILLER]. Topographia Alsatiae, &c., das ist, Beschreibung unnd eygentliche Abbildung der vornehmbsten Stätt und Oerther, im Obern und Untern Elsass. Frankfurt am Main, Wolffgang Hoffmann for Matthäus Merian, 1644. Small folio, antique overlapping vellum, smooth muted spine, blue edges, ties (Modern binding). First edition of this topographical description of Alsace, published by Matthäus Merian in the Topographia Germaniæ (see previous lot). It contains 2 double-page maps and 35 (out of 37) hors texte plates, often folding or double-page, copper-engraved by Merian, showing some fifty views and plans of Alsatian towns, such as Strasbourg, Colmar, Fribourg, Hagenau, Mulhouse, Molsheim, Montbéliard, Sélestat, etc. Two plates are missing (Kientzheim-Ammerschwihr-Kaysersberg and Rappoltsweiler [Ribeauvillé]); a third, unbound, comes from another copy (Benfeld).
