Description
RICHEOME (Louis). Tableaux sacrez des figures mystiques du tres-auguste sacrifice et sacrement de l'Eucharistie. Paris, Laurens Somnius, 1609. In-8, limp vellum, smooth spine titled later in black ink (Early binding). Second edition of this devotional book by the Jesuit Louis Richeome (1544-1625) published under the same address in 1601. It is decorated with a title-frontispiece engraved by Thomas de Leu, depicting Henri IV and the Queen adoring the Virgin, and 14 full-page "tableaux sacrés", engraved in intaglio by Charles de Mallery and Léonard Gaultier. This copy is in a contemporary binding, with small wet spots, a tear that is not missing and crossed-out inscriptions on the frontispiece.
