TACITUS. The Works. Paris, Augustin Courbé, 1658. In-4, red morocco, Du Seuil decoration, ornate spine, interior lace, gilt edges (period binding). Fourth edition, revised and corrected, of the translation by Nicolas Perrot d'Ablancourt (1606-1664), "belle infidèle", which he dedicated to Cardinal de Richelieu.
It is decorated with a title-frontispiece by François Chauveau, a title vignette, an entablature and an intaglio lettering.
A luxurious large paper copy bound in red morocco à la Du Seuil.
