ANNA IVANOVNA, Empress of Russia. Signed Imperial Charter. Saint Petersburg, 31 July 1734. In-folio (418 x 302 mm) of 8 pp, silk cover brocaded with gold thread, braided silk cord and gold thread, pink silk serpents between each leaf (Binding of the period). Imperial charter signed by Anna Ivanovna (1693-1740), Empress of Russia from 1730 to 1740, confirming to Ouliana Apostol (+1742), widow of the hetman Danylo Apostol (1654-1734), the hereditary rights granted to her husband over all the family estates located in the Mirgorod and Chernigov regions, in present-day Ukraine: villages of Khomoutets, Batmovka, Sopitsy, Tourbai, Khlopeniny, Shabolatasovna, Louziny etc., under the reigns of Ivan V and Peter the Great. Danylo Apostol, (1654-1734), a major figure in Russian-Ukrainian history: colonel of Mirgorod at the age of 29, hetman of the Zaporogue army (1727-1734), he negotiated with Peter II the famous "Decisive Points" (Решительные пункты) governing relations between the Cossacks and the Russian Empire.
