BOUCHER (Juste-François). [Collection of interior decorations]. Paris, F. Chéreau, s.d. [v. 1775]. In-folio, flamed basane, spine decorated, red edges (Binding of the period). Very rare first edition of this most interesting collection of interior decoration in the Louis XVI style. The work includes 59 (of 60) plates based on designs by the architect and ornamentalist Juste-François Boucher (1736-1782), the son of Louis XV's famous painter François Boucher, engraved on copper by Berthault, Delagardette, Coupeau, Duval, Bichard and others. These plates depict panels and panelling decorations, and elevations of alcoves, dining rooms, drawing rooms, bedrooms, libraries, cabinets, etc. Émile Lévy published a facsimile of this collection in 1904. It is followed by 22 plates engraved by Johann Georg Hertel, of Augsburg, after drawings by G. L. Hertel, G. M. Roscher, Boucher, König and others, depicting furniture and panelling decorations. The first white endpaper contains a pencil sketch. One plate (A4) is missing. Freckling, minor spotting and soiling, last few plates reinforced in the margins, binding worn with slight tears, spine ends fragile. Berlin Kat. n°4054.
