Description
BRUMOY (Pierre). De arte vitraria libri duo. Caen, Antoine Cavelier, 1712. 3 pieces in one volume in-8, half-brown basane, smooth spine decorated, long title page, speckled edges (Binding of the late eighteenth century). Rare first edition of this didactic poem in Latin on the art of glassmaking, written by the Rouen Jesuit Pierre Brumoy (1688-1742). Two other poems on inventions were bound in after it: L'Imprimerie, ode. Paris, Valleyre, 1764. Unique edition of this poem in praise of typography. Its author has not been identified. - BOURDOT DE RICHEBOURG (C.-É.)]. The Invention of Gunpowder. Paris, J.-F. Josse, 1732. First edition of this poem divided into three songs and dedicated to the Duc du Maine. Burn with marginal loss on the last leaf of the first piece; wetness and stains in L'Imprimerie, and handwritten inscriptions on the last blank page.
