Description
LAVOISIER, FOURCROY, BERTHOLLET and GUYTON DE MORVEAU. Method of chemical nomenclature. Paris, Cuchet, 1787. In-8, fawn half-basin with vellum corners, spine decorated, spotted edges (contemporary binding). Second edition of this important work, in which the great chemists of the time developed a new way of naming the elements and thus paved the way for modern chemistry, free from the language inherited from the alchemists. The publisher has included a new system of chemical characters adapted to this nomenclature by Jean-Henri Hassenfratz and Pierre-Auguste Adet.
The volume contains a large folding plate and six engraved tables.
Worn binding, light brown spots.
